The city is being overtaken. You are in one of the few places left intact, but it won’t be for long.
Ever since that odd tree appeared in the middle of the park, things have been weird. Little orange spores were seen floating around and attaching to buildings, quickly growing into large orange blobs. The more blobs appeared, the larger the tree grew. The infected buildings collapsed and dissolved into a strange black slime once they could no longer support the blobs, and it began to eat everything in its path.
Now, the city is almost gone; only mountains of dark slime remain. And the tree. And you.
That’s it for storytime. Here’s how this piece was created and developed. I was first inspired to create something fantasy-related, but I didn’t mind sci-fi as well. My original idea was to build a large city like New York or Tokyo but several hundred years from now, overgrown with a lot of plants and mushrooms. However, that evidently did not come to fruition; I was unable to add as many plants as I would have liked due to time constraints. Thus, I decided to create a different world with a similar aesthetic where there are few plants, and this eventually became the world you see in front of you.
As for the infection part, the idea was born when I added a cloud for fun. I was going to use it as one of the many varieties of weird flora that I was planning to have, but after coloring it orange, I realized that it looked like tree sap or fungus. I added it to a few buildings, and you know what happened after that.
I hope that you enjoy exploring all of the nooks and crannies of my world (there’s a lot). Thanks for visiting!
